5 Breakfast Recipes to Teach your Kids

As a parent or guardian, it is wise to instill good habits in your child. During the early years of your child, they will learn a lot by exhibiting your behavior. However, a child also learns valuable skills when they get to participate in activities alongside their caretakers. Additionally, a child feels appreciated and seen when they get to participate in household activities. Teaching your kids how to prepare food is one life skill valuable for children of all ages. This makes the kitchen one of the best places to hang out with your kids.

Before embarking on a journey cooking with your child, ensure that you understand the safety features and instructions for each appliance and utensil to prevent possible injury.

Strawberry Smoothie:

Ingredients for 4 Servings:

  • 4 Cups Milk of choice
  • 4 Teaspoons Honey
  • 1 Cup Yogurt
  • 2 Bananas
  • 2 Cups Strawberries
  • 2 Scoop Protein Power (optional)

Instructions:

Step 1) Pre-portion out the ingredients with your child.

Step 2) Place an assembled blender on the countertop or secure table where you and your child can both monitor the blender.

Step 3) Poor milk, honey, yogurt and banana in the basin of your blender. Cover the blender with the lid and turn on the power leading to the blender.

Step 4) Lift the opening on the top of the blender lid and poor in the strawberries and watch them swirl into the smoothie.

Step 5) Add protein powder if desired until incorporated.

Step 6) Turn off blender.

Step 7) Poor smoothie into glasses and drink the final product.

Step 8) Clean dirty utensils.

Step 9) Serve and enjoy.

Mini Breakfast Pizzas

Ingredients for 4 Servings:

  • 8 oz can Crescent Dough
  • 8 oz Breakfast Sausage
  • 6 Scrambled Eggs
  • 2 Cups Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • Diced Vegetables (optional)
  • Additional Meat Toppings (optional)
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

Step 1) Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2) Pre-prepare breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs, and diced vegetables.

Step 3) Roll crescent dough into 4 flat circles and set aside.

Step 4) Prick holes and crimp the edges of the crescent dough with a fork.

Step 5) Designate each ingredient into a separate bowl with an assigned spoon on the countertop.

Step 6) Place the 4 flat circles of crescent dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Step 7) Give permission to each child to prepare their own breakfast pizza.

Step 8) Layer toppings on each flat circle of crescent dough.

Step 9) Place baking sheet with each created breakfast pizza into the oven.

Step 10) Bake breakfast pizzas until crescent dough is golden brown (approximately 15-20 minutes).

Step 11) Remove contents from oven and cool.

Step 12) Serve and enjoy.

Chocolate Chip & Pecan Granola

Ingredients for 6 servings:

  • 3 Cups Rolled Oats
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Pecans
  • 1/4 Cup Melted Butter
  • 1/3 Cup Honey
  • 1/3 Cup Granulated Sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons Warm Water
  • 1 Teaspoon Vanilla Extract
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/3 Cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Instructions:

Step 1) Pre-heat oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2) Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 3) Combine oats and pecans in a large bowl.

Step 4) Stir melted butter, honey, sugar, water, vanilla extract in a separate bowl.

Step 5) Add stirred ingredients to oats and pecans.

Step 6) Poor combined mixture onto prepared baking sheet.

Step 7) Place baking sheet in oven.

Step 8) Clean dirty dishes while granola bakes in oven.

Step 9) Intermittently stir granola every 15 minutes.

Step 10) Remove granola from oven after 1 hour and set to cool.

Step 11) Mix in chocolate chips.

Step 12) Serve and enjoy.

Breakfast Popsicle

Ingredients for 8 average-sized popsicles:

  • 2 Cups Plain Yogurt
  • 1 Pound Sliced Strawberries
  • 2 Tablespoons of Strawberry Jam
  • 2 Tablespoons Honey
  • 1/3 Cup Granola (see above)

Instructions:

Step 1) Mix yogurt with strawberry jam

in a separate bowl.

Step 2) Pulverize sliced strawberries and honey in a separate bowl with fork or blender

Step 3) Layer yogurt and jam mixture at the bottom of the popsicle molds.

Step 4) Add a layer of the strawberry honey mixture on top of the yogurt mixture in the popsicle molds.

Step 5) Sprinkle granola over previous layers.

Step 6) Repeat layers until molds are full and/or you run out of ingredients.

Step 7) Assemble popsicles molds per user instructions to ensure they are frozen appropriately.

Step 8) Tap molds gently against countertop to remove air bubbles from the popsicle layers.

Step 9) Place popsicle molds in freezer.

Step 10) Keep popsicle contents in freezer until ingredients are frozen. Expect to wait a minimum of 6 hours for ingredients to freeze completely.

Step 11) Remove popsicles when ready to serve and enjoy.

Instructions:

Step 1) Place ingredients in separate containers on a surface easy for your child to access.

Step 2) Let each individual make their own breakfast parfait.

Step 3) Layer yogurt on the bottom of the serving cups.

Step 4) Sprinkle granola, fruit, nuts and seeds as desired over yogurt layer.

Step 5) Repeat layers until you and your child have achieved a desired serving size.
